| DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE... |

Always
wanting to own their own business together and tired of working
the 8 to 5 jobs, Jennifer and Brent found paradise. It was long
past the last signal and over the one lane bridge, and past
the state's largest taro plantation nestled up against the beautiful
mountains and their cascading waterfalls.
With the Hanalei river on the right to guide them, they found
Hanalei town. The smell of fresh coffee and fresh baked bagels
lead them to Old Hanalei Coffee Co. Full Of charm, and a personality
all its own, the building was built in the 1920s. Old Hanalei
Coffee Co. was established in 1994, and Jennifer and Brent
Hickman took over as owners in 1997.
Eager to let others know of the great Hawaiian coffees (the
only coffee that's 100% American), they opened their second
shop, on the south side of Kauai overlooking beautiful Kalapaki
Bay. It was here, while watching the surfers, that they decided
to start roasting their own coffee for themselves and for
others.
So Brent took over the arduous task of making sure that they
roast the best coffee on the island and Jennifer threw herself
into designing unique labels to adorn her husband's work.
Longing to get fresh baked bagels and muffins on the island,
they started work on their third shop in downtown Kapaa, which
is a full gourmet bakery and juice bar.
So that is how the husband and wife team created Hawaii's
Java Kai, Kauai's first micro coffee roasting company. They
hope you enjoy the cup of paradise that this husband and wife
have helped to prepare you- and that it reminds you of cascading
waterfalls and beautiful sunsets.
Dreams really do come true...
